Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov posted a Palestinian flag on social networks
Former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) came out in support of Palestine.
The former athlete posted a wordless post, decorated with several emojis: a Palestinian flag, a red heart and two raised palms, symbolizing solidarity. He attached a video with excerpts from the Koran to the post.
On the morning of October 7, the Israel Defense Forces reported that Palestinian radicals from the Gaza Strip fired rockets into Israel. In response, the army launched a military operation in Gaza. The Israeli military-political cabinet announced that the country had entered a “state of war.”
Nurmagomedov defended his UFC lightweight title three times before retiring. In total, the athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights. The Russian is one of the most popular athletes among Muslims. In particular, he opposed the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron, who, in his opinion, offended the feelings of believers.
