Sochi spoke about a possible relegation from the RPL

Rubashko said that Sochi needs to rethink a lot to maintain its place in the RPL

Sochi General Director Dmitry Rubashko spoke about the club’s possible relegation from the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“As for maintaining a place in the RPL, I don’t even want to think about anything else now, we have to work and hope for the best,” Rubashko said.

The functionary also spoke about the Sochi team’s defeat to Zenit with a score of 0:2 in the 11th round of the Russian Championship on October 7. “During the upcoming break for national team games, the guys have to work and rethink a lot. Today was a positive game, not like those games that I don’t even want to remember now,” Rubashko said. He emphasized that now “everything is falling into place” in the team.

After 11 matches, Sochi occupies the last – 16th – place in the RPL standings, gaining 6 points. The team won two victories and suffered nine defeats. In the 2021/2022 season, Sochi residents became silver medalists of the Russian Championship.
