Manchester City owner under investigation for links to Russia

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour may lose the club due to links with Russia

The owner of Manchester City, Sheikh Mansour, came under investigation due to possible connections with Russia. Sport.es reports this.

According to the publication, the functionary is suspected of assisting Russian entrepreneurs in transferring money from England to the United Arab Emirates. If proven, Mansour could lose the club, since according to the rules of the English Premier League, owners can be removed from management for violating human rights and involvement in criminal offenses. It is noted that this issue has already been taken under control by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley.

Sheikh Mansour has owned Manchester City since 2008. He is also the Vice President of the UAE.

On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
