Asier Etxeberria renews with Euskaltel-Euskadi for the 2024 season

Asier Etxeberria has renewed his contract with Euskaltel-Euskadi for the 2024 season, as reported this Friday by the Basque team. At the Euskadi Foundation since 2017, first as an amateur and since 2022 in the professional team, the Navarrese cyclist will continue his cycling progression in the structure that has seen him grow.

Asier made the jump to the first team in 2022 and in 2023 he has not been able to have continuity for a crash in his first racein Mallorca, and a mononucleosis mid-season. With a climbing profile, he has earned the trust of the sports management for his work and professionalism. As a U23 and elite cyclist, he grew up in the Euskadi Foundation youth team as he completed five years in amateur training. His renewal is added to those of Mikel Bizkarra, Joan Bou, Xabier Isasa, Mikel Iturria and G.otzon martin.

“The truth is that I am very grateful that the team has given me another opportunity. This year has not been at all what I expected after working hard during the preseason. Between falls, illnesses and more things have not worked out as we wanted. Let’s hope that changes next year; we will continue working hard so that the results are better” said the cyclist.

The sports manager of Euskaltel-Euskadi, Jorge Azanzafor his part, has assessed the Navarrese’s continuity in this way: “Asier is a runner who has a very high level, but this year he has suffered from mononucleosis, among other things. He trained well in the preseason and was doing well until he had a fall on the first day in Mallorca and has had physical problems intertwined. Let’s hope that all this passes and we recover the best Asier that I think is to come. He is a runner who adds and it is a satisfaction that he is still on the team.”
