Former Spartak football player Titov called on Russian football players to run away from the RPL
Former midfielder of Spartak Moscow and the Russian national team, Yegor Titov, called on Russian football players to leave for European clubs. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“We must run away if possible! Run as quickly as possible. Because we have no progress,” said the legendary red-and-white football player, noting a strong drop in the level of the Russian Premier League (RPL). Titov added that if players receive invitations from foreign teams, they need to accept them and try themselves there.
On September 12, the head coach of the Russian national team and Rostov, Valery Karpin, made a similar call. He explained that he feels the difference between the level of the national team players who play in Europe and those who remain at home.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments.
