Ex-football player Abaev said that he received death threats because of his long hair
Former Russian goalkeeper Ilya Abaev told how he was attacked in a bar because of his long hair while playing for Torpedo Moscow. His words are quoted by Sport24.
The athlete explained that one of the visitors to the establishment, who was intoxicated, threatened to kill the football player because of his hairstyle. “They grappled with him – chairs, glasses, dishes flew. As a result, the guys and I neutralized him and called the police,” Abaev recalled.
According to the ex-player, the law enforcement officers who arrived refused to detain the attacker. After that, Abaev started talking with the man. After he found out that he had attacked the former athlete, he repaid the damage and apologized.
Abaev played for Torpedo from 1999 to 2008. He also played for Anzhi Makhachkala, Lokomotiv Moscow, Krasnodar and Rostov.
