Real Madrid president Perez sues after being accused of bribing referees
Real Madrid football club president Florentino Perez filed a lawsuit after being accused of bribing referees. This is reported on the club’s website.
It is noted that the functionary demanded that a case be opened against the former Commissioner of the Spanish Police, Jose Manuel Villarejo. The commissioner’s accusations, made on the air of the Catalan radio station RAC1, were called false by the team.
Earlier on Tuesday, October 3, Villarejo said in an interview with a radio station that Perez was bribing judges in the interests of the team. Time News reports this with reference to RAC1. At the same time, the commissioner believes that it is impossible to hold the functionary accountable for this.
On September 28, it became known that the court found Barcelona guilty of paying bribes to the vice-president of the technical committee of referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Henriques Negreira. It was established that the club paid the functionary a total of about 7.5 million euros. The court qualified this payment as an illegal act to promote the interests of the team.
