Sandro Rosell calls accusations of bribing referees against Barcelona stupid

Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell spoke out about accusations of bribing a judge against the club. His words are quoted by Marca.

“Show me a match where the referee helped us. I can show many matches where they didn’t help. We lost La Liga in the last round due to a mistake admitted by the referee,” Rosell said. He called stupid talk that the team won thanks to the help of the vice-president of the technical committee of referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Enriquez Negreira.

On September 28, it became known that the court found Barcelona guilty in the case of paying bribes to Negreira. It was established that the club paid the functionary a total of about 7.5 million euros. The court qualified this payment as an illegal act to promote the interests of the team.

Barcelona is the second Spanish football club in terms of the number of titles after Real Madrid. The team won the national championship 27 times, the Champions League 5 times and the UEFA Super Cup 5 times.
