Tarasova said that Yagudin will have surgery due to knee problems
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the health problems of Olympic figure skating champion Alexei Yagudin. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Alexey is going to have surgery; he has problems with his knee. As far as I heard, the operation will be in Germany. I hope it goes well,” Tarasova said.
On March 18, 43-year-old Yagudin won the first show program tournament. He received the maximum score from the jury – 20 points. Following him were world champions in ice dancing Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov and Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova.
Yagudin won the 2002 Olympic Games in singles. He also has four gold medals from the World Championships and three from the European Championships. In November 2003, the athlete retired.
