Coach Rodionenko called performing at the Olympic Games in a neutral status a betrayal
The head coach of the Russian artistic gymnastics team, Valentina Rodionenko, spoke about the possible performance of her charges at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in a neutral status. Sport24 reports this.
According to her, not a single medal is worth betraying the motherland. “No one from the artistic gymnastics team will go under such conditions. How will the conditional Nikita Nagorny be able to look everyone in the eye later, even if he receives a medal?” — Rodionenko noted.
On September 20, Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Azat Kadyrov said that Russians participating in the Olympic Games 2024 in a neutral status will not receive prize money. Kadyrov stressed that athletes will be removed from the Sports Training Center, and all expenses should be borne by the International Olympic Committee.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The issue of the participation of Russian athletes in competitions has not yet been resolved.
