Kovalchuk spoke about a possible continuation of his career at Spartak

Kovalchuk said that he will soon decide to resume his career at Spartak

Olympic hockey champion Ilya Kovalchuk spoke about a possible resumption of his playing career. RIA Novosti reports this.

According to him, he is only considering the option with Moscow Spartak, but first he needs to discuss the details with the team’s head coach Alexei Zhamnov. “I haven’t had competitive practice for a long time, although I train constantly. It will take some time to prepare yourself and help the team. I think it will take a couple of weeks at most and there will be a decision,” Kovalchuk said.

On August 2 last year, Olympic champion Ilya Kablukov announced the imminent resumption of his career by Kovalchuk. “I have an insider. Let’s just say we’ll see him. Maybe my sources are lying, maybe not. Let’s leave the intrigue,” said the hockey player.

Kovalchuk played in the National Hockey League for several clubs for more than ten years. The forward’s last team was Omsk Avangard, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup. The athlete suspended his career after the 2020/2021 season.
