Journalist Liz accused Tutberidze of persuading the judges to side with Davis and Smolkin
American journalist Dave Lees made a new accusation against Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze. He dedicated a post to this on social networks X (formerly Twitter).
Liz stated about Tutberidze’s influence on the work of arbitrators. “I have always believed in Eteri’s ability to persuade judges to side with Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin. “I’d like to remind people who called me crazy when I said they could be number two on Team USA,” he said.
In the offseason, Davis, the daughter of Tutberidze, and Smolkin, the son of actor Boris Smolkin, changed their sports citizenship. From the 2023/2024 season they represent Georgia. On September 30, the couple won silver medals at the Ondrej Nepela Memorial after falling in the free dance.
Liz is known for his criticism of Tutberidze and her group. So, he stated that many figure skaters in the coach’s group use a hormone blocker. He also said that Tutberidze would like to train skaters in the USA. He and fellow columnist Jonathan Beyer record a podcast and publish them on The Skating Lesson YouTube channel.
