Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Johnny Walker ate a photo of Russian Magomed Ankalaev before the fight. The video was published on the Puncher Telegram channel.
The athlete showed how he practices punches in the gym on a pear, to which is attached a photo of Ankalaev. The Brazilian then turns to face the camera and eats the photo.
The fight between Ankalaev and Walker will take place on October 21 in Abu Dhabi. The fight will take place as part of the UFC 294 tournament. In the main fight of the evening, Russian champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Islam Makhachev will have a rematch with Brazilian Charles Oliveira.
On December 11, 2022, Ankalaev fought for the UFC light heavyweight title with Pole Jan Blachowicz. The fight lasted five rounds and ended in a draw. The Russian fighter did not agree with the judge’s decision and threatened to leave the promotion. UFC head Dana White criticized him for his passivity in the early rounds of the fight.
Before meeting Blachowicz, Ankalaev had won nine straight victories in the UFC. In total, the 31-year-old native of Dagestan has 17 victories and one defeat in his career. The 31-year-old Walker has 20 wins and seven losses.
