Hearings in Valieva’s case were postponed

CAS postponed hearings in the case of figure skater Kamila Valieva to November 9 and 10

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has postponed hearings into the doping case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. This is reported on the organization’s website.

CAS said it was preparing new documentation for the hearing, which should be reviewed by all interested parties. New hearings in the athlete’s case will be held on November 9 and 10.

Hearings in Valieva’s case were scheduled to take place at CAS from September 26 to 29. During the event, four parties spoke: the skater herself, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Skating Union and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. During the meeting, it became known that Valieva did not receive notification from WADA that her sample taken during the 2021 Russian Championships gave a positive result.

At the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to the doping scandal involving her. Traces of a prohibited drug were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
