Canadian Olympic champion explained doping accusations against Russians

Canadian Duhamel: in Russia, figure skaters use a substance like black tar

Olympic figure skating champion, Canadian Megan Duhamel, in an interview with the YouTube channel The Skating Lesson, explained why she accuses Russian athletes of doping.

Duhamel said that figure skaters who trained in Russia talked about the use of substances like black tar by domestic athletes. She also remembered how the Russian couple Fedor Klimov and Ksenia Stolbova disappeared into the locker room with their doctor Philip Shvetsky during warm-ups, which seemed strange to the Canadian.

On October 26, 2022, Shvetsky stopped working with the coaching staff of Eteri Tutberidze. The doctor said that he was not working with a specialist, since his services were designed for the period of preparation for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Duhamel won one Olympic gold medal in pair skating and twice became world champion. She has repeatedly accused Russian figure skaters of doping. In April 2023, the Russian Foreign Ministry banned the athlete from entering the country.
