The head of La Liga spoke about bribery allegations against Barcelona

Tebas said that the RFEF did not provide La Liga with all the data on the Negreira case

The head of La Liga, Javier Tebas, spoke out about allegations of bribery against Barcelona. His words are quoted by Marca.

“A bribe is when a crime is committed against a public servant. Maybe they think judges are like that. I don’t know, I have to give a legal assessment as a lawyer,” Tebas said, noting that for a more accurate assessment he needs to familiarize himself with the arguments of the prosecution.

In addition, Tebas commented on the searches at the headquarters of the technical committee of the referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The functionary explained that the Spanish Civil Guard appeared in the technical committee after La Liga asked the Spanish Football Federation to accredit a number of evidence for the investigation. “We requested an assessment from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), a survey of referees and some other points that the federation did not provide to us,” he added.

Earlier on September 28, it became known that the court found Barcelona guilty in the case of giving bribes to the former vice-president of the technical committee of RFEF referees, Henriques Negreira. It was established that the club paid the specialist a total of about 7.5 million euros. The court qualified this payment as an illegal act to promote the interests of the team.
