Valuev reacted to Ukraine’s refusal to let Russians into the European MMA Championship

State Duma Deputy Nikolai Valuev responded to the refusal of the Ukrainian Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (UF MMA) to let Russian athletes to the European Championship, which will be held in Kiev. His words are quoted by “Sport-Express”.

Valuev drew attention to the fact that there are two continental championships in Europe – under the auspices of the World MMA Organization (GAMMA) and the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). This means that the Russian national team will still have a chance to compete. “We don’t need to get upset, there will be another European championship,” he stressed.

Earlier on October 12, the head of UF MMA, Vladimir Teslya, said that the organization agreed to host the European Championship transferred from Georgia, provided that the Russians were absent from it. It was noted that GAMMA agreed with this requirement.

The European MMA Champion will take place from 5 to 9 November.

In 2020, the TV company Setanta Sports did not show on the territory of Ukraine the fight with the participation of the Russian MMA fighter Alexei Oleinik at the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. The entire UFC Fight Night 174 tournament in Las Vegas was shown on the territory of the country, with the exception of Oleinik’s fight.
