The Geldiezinak project highlights the work of the best Basque athletes

The project Unstoppable-Geldiezinakthat highlights the work of some of the most outstanding athletes in the history of Basque sport with the objective of create references for the new generationswas presented this Wednesday in the Multibox Room of the EITB headquarters in Bilbao.

The aforementioned initiative is promoted by the Directorate of Physical Activity and Sports of the Basque Government and the Basque Team Foundation and seeks to underline and give the value they deserve to both the work done and the achievements obtained by women in the history of high-level Basque sport.

In this way, the documentary series Geldiezinak produced by Korima Films, will be broadcast weekly on ETB1, on Sundays, at 11:30, within the “Helmuga” program. It will also be distributed in bilingual format, with subtitles, on the rest of the Basque Team Foundation channels (youtube, website and social networks) and on the platform Primeran of EITB. Thus, they will star in the series Ibone Belaustegigoitiathe first Basque to compete in the Olympic Games, the triple medalist Maialen Chourrautalso Olympic Maider Unda, Ainhoa ​​Ibarra, Ainhoa ​​Murua, Eli Pinedo, Almudena Cid, Leire Olaberria, Maider Telleria, Sara Carracelasthe mountaineer Edurne Pasaban and the stars of rural sports Karmele Gisasola, Nerea Arruti and Alazne Etxaburuaamong other.

In each chapter, topics of interest will be discussed in a transversal way that help to understand the specificities of the sports universe of women such as motherhood, the breaking of stereotypes, the need for specific planning taking into account the physiology of women and the need for promote the presence of women in decision-making positions in sports entities, among others.

The documentaries will be accompanied by a podcast series with the same theme and protagonists, lasting 20 minutes each, which can be heard through the EITB group platforms.

More focused on childhood, a collection of stories and teaching cards has also been created aimed at girls and boys from 6 to 11 years old with the athletes themselves as protagonists and adapting the topics discussed to the age of the audience to which they are directed. The stories and cards have been created by Paul Caballero and Ane Undurraga.

The event, which began with a fragment of the work “GenErorAntz” by the dance company Kimua Dantza Kolektiboa, attended by the president of the Basque Parliament Bakartxo Tejeriathe Minister of Culture and Linguistic Policy Bingen Zupiriathe director of Physical Activity and Sports Gorka Iturriagathe coordinator of the Basque Team Foundation Olatz Legarzathe sports director of EiTB Media Joseba Urkiola and the director of Emakunde Look at Elgarrestaamong others and other guests.

Thanks to the “Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan” financed by the European Union through aid Next Generationthe Basque Government has wanted to create models that enrich society, making visible above all the past and present and in some cases the future of some of the best high-level Basque athletes.
