After the poor results achieved in the second phase of the Pro League, Leonardo Vanegas decided to leave his position as coach of Gualaceo SC on the 6th day.

Vanegas predicted he would leave the club due to indiscipline problems and therefore made room for the hiring of a new strategist to save Azuayos from relegation.

“There was a breakup or the group broke up because we wanted to impose discipline, and there was no support from the leadership. “We said one thing, and they gave another solution,” he said.

“Afterwards we talked, we thought it wouldn’t affect the group, but the group started to split. “I think we made the best decision, for the benefit of the group and myself,” Vanegas added in a conversation with ESPN.

The coach insisted that the manager’s decisions when handing down the penalty “made him uncomfortable”.

“As a professional staff, we make a decision, the players as a group believe that we are doing the right thing, but two days later the decision is changed by the management. “It created a commotion,” he said.

“There are players who think they cannot be replaced. There was annoyance, but that annoyance does not have to go into a lack of respect for the teammate and the coach for that decision. I have to accept it and show it when I have the chance,” Vanegas concluded. (D)
