Gonzalo Plata, the fourth Real Valladolid player to survive after a traffic accident

The most serious was that of Germán Hornos, in the early hours of Christmas 2004 in Uruguay.

The accident carried out by Gonzalo Plata at dawn on Wednesday is not the first case that occurs in Real Valladolid, and although they have little to do with each other, up to four Real Valladolid players suffered traffic accidents in recent times, the newspaper publishes AS from Spain.

2000

The Brazilian Arilson Gilberto Dacosta, after six in the morning on March 5, 2000, ran a traffic light in the center of the city and rammed his Ford Focus into a motorcycle on which two people were traveling; the driver of the Vespino was unharmed, but the woman who was in the “package” – curiously also Brazilian – had to be treated in the hospital for thoracoabdominal trauma with multiple contusions, and the situation worsened, since she was two months pregnant.

Arilson also tested positive for alcohol, and if his stay at Real Valladolid had been almost irrelevant until then, from then on he practically disappeared. The accident occurred in the center of the city and Arilson’s vehicle ended up overturned on the asphalt.

2004

The most serious was that of Germán Hornos. In the early hours of Christmas 2004 in Uruguay, he suffered an accident while driving his car in which three other friends were also traveling. Hornos was in a coma, he struggled between life and death for days and, although he managed to survive, the aftermath weighed heavily on his career.

In 2006, almost miraculously, he returned to play a couple of games with Promesas and returned to Sevilla, which loaned him to teams in his country, where he ended his career until 2012.

2014

He also suffered an accident, in strange circumstances, Gilberto Alcatraz. It was at dawn on Saturday, January 11, 2014 on Avenida Salamanca. The player, apparently under the influence of alcohol, lost control of the car, skipped the median and rolled over. Alcatraz he was trapped and had to be released by emergency services.

The explanation that was given then is that the player was depressed due to the separation from his wife, who had returned to Colombia, and was taking drugs that, mixed with an alcoholic beverage, caused him to lose control. Nor was he the same again and ended up returning to Colombia in the winter market, passing through Valladolid with more pain than glory, developing the rest of his career without leaving Colombia.
