Alexander Povetkin announced his desire to return to professional boxing
Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin has announced his desire to return to professional boxing. Match TV reports this.
“I want it very much. When you have been doing this business all your life, it is, of course, difficult. If there is such a chance, we will have to take advantage of it. The main thing is that the condition is normal. Now it’s more or less the same,” Povetkin said.
The former boxer noted that he would like to have a third fight with Dillian Whyte. “If the chance arose, I would be happy,” Povetkin added.
On June 13, 2021, it became known that Povetkin had completed his performances in professional boxing. The heavyweight explained this decision due to health problems.
Povetkin is a 2004 Olympic champion and former World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion. In the professional ring, he won 36 victories, suffered three defeats and ended one match in a draw.
