Dyukov said that Russian football players need to get out of their comfort zone
The head of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, assessed the level of domestic football players. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
“We see only a few players developing and progressing. The rest do not demonstrate such progress,” said Dyukov, emphasizing that athletes need to get out of their comfort zone. He noted that friendly matches help assess the readiness of football players.
“We all need to think about making our players more competitive. The RFU, the national team headquarters, and the clubs should think about this. And the football players themselves should take a close look at how they are developing,” Dyukov concluded.
In September, the Russian team held three international meetings. On September 12, the team drew 1:1 with Qatar. Also, Valery Karpin’s team played two matches with the Egyptian Olympic team in Suez: the first ended in a draw with a score of 1:1, the second in a 2:1 victory for the hosts.
On February 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
