Ultramarathon runner Elkonin recommended a membrane jacket for running in the rain
Ultramarathon runner, Candidate of Medical Sciences Alexander Elkonin gave advice on planning runs in rainy and windy weather. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
“It is very important in such weather to avoid prolonged exposure to open areas in strong winds and to constantly move,” Elkonin said. He explained that the production of heat during physical activity allows one to survive the most extreme conditions.
The specialist emphasized that it is important to constantly move even at above-zero temperatures, because rain and strong winds can cause hypothermia and a decrease in performance even in warm weather. When training in the cold season, Elkonin recommended wearing sneakers with thicker soles and a membrane jacket, which will provide protection from the water and wind outside, but will not prevent sweat from evaporating.
Elkonin previously explained breathing techniques while running. He stated that breathing should be free, deep and rhythmic, with the upper body relaxed.
