The General Secretary of the Kenya Football Federation, Barry Otieno, spoke about the progress of negotiations with the Russian Football Union (RFU) on the possible holding of a friendly match between national teams. Sport24 reports this
“We are now discussing the date and location of the meeting. As soon as we complete the negotiations and reach an agreement, we will announce it officially,” Otieno said.
On September 11, the Russian team lost 1:2 to the Olympic team of Egypt in a friendly match. On September 12, the team drew with Qatar 1:1.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
