The name of the opponent for the next fight of the British champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Leon Edwards has been announced. This was announced by the head of the promotion, Dana White, on the social network X (formerly Twitter approx. “Tapes.ru”).
Edwards will meet American Colby Covington in the octagon. The fight will take place on December 16 and will headline the tournament in Las Vegas. In the co-main fight of the evening, Czech Jiri Prochazka and Brazilian Alex Pereira will fight.
On March 19, Edwards turned out to be stronger than American Kamaru Usman and defended the UFC championship belt in the welterweight category for the first time. The main event of the 286th league tournament took place in London. The fight lasted all five rounds and ended with the Briton winning by majority decision.
In his professional career, 32-year-old Edwards won 21 victories and suffered three defeats. The 35-year-old Covington has 17 wins and three losses.
