On Monday evening, at the Jorge Andrade Cantos Stadium in Azogues, Gualaceo SC was defeated 3-0 against Cumbayá FC, on the sixth day of the second stage of the Pro League.

Thus, the Azuayos are last in this part of the competition with only one point, and in the overall table they are already in the relegation position with 19 points.

The poor results led to Leonardo Vanegas leaving the technical leadership of the team, and the main issue of the club’s negative streak is considered to be the disciplinary aspect.

“You read every day in training. The team broke up, three groups were formed. “I am very frontal and we try to work towards achieving the goal, we try to fight for it, but personal ego prevailed”, he expressed.

“We tried to impose the issue of discipline, but it didn’t help us, and there are players who believed they were untouchable,” Vanegas added in a conversation with Active radiofrom Cuenza.

In this context, the national strategist was decisive, pointing out that football players have more respect for their foreign colleagues.

“When you’re Ecuadorian, it seems difficult, but when someone from outside comes, they don’t see anything, and the player puts his head down and treats them anyway,” he reproached.

“Man, on the other hand, tries to be a mediator and be more understanding, but things are not like that. We had a friendly relationship with some players, but they messed things up,” Vanegas concluded. (D)
