Cejudo called on Mike Bell, who refereed the Shevchenko-Grasso fight, to resign
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Henry Cejudo called for the resignation of Mike Bell, the referee of the fight between Kyrgyz fighter Valentina Shevchenko and Mexican Alexa Grasso. His words are quoted by BJ Penn.
“Did Alexa win the fifth round? One hundred percent. Was it a 10-8 round? Absolutely not. Mike Bell, you make me sick. You should quit refereeing,” said the ex-champion, adding that the referee does not understand anything about MMA.
Shevchenko and Grasso met on the night of September 17 at UFC Fight Night 227 in Las Vegas. The fight lasted all five rounds and ended in a draw. After this, Shevchenko called the result of the fight unfair. “I think I won 3-2, but the judges were a little under pressure because of Mexican Independence Day, so they judged the fight in favor of the Mexican fighter,” said the athlete.
In total, Shevchenko has 22 wins, four losses and one draw. Grasso has 16 wins, three losses and one draw.
