Mikheil Mamiashvili said that Russians and Ukrainians have normal relations at the World Cup
The head of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), Mikhail Mamiashvili, spoke about the relationship of the country’s representatives with the Ukrainians at the World Championships in Belgrade. RIA Novosti reports this.
“We have excellent informal relations with representatives of the Ukrainian national team. And there are no incidents even close, we fight and wish each other victories. Our relations in general are not quite the same as before, but they are normal and working,” Mamiashvili noted.
Earlier on Monday, September 18, it became known that the leadership of the United World of Wrestling (UWW) addressed the Russians and Ukrainians competing at the World Championships. Athletes were asked to refrain from shaking hands to avoid incidents if one of the opponents refuses.
The World Championships, which are a qualifying tournament for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, will end on September 24. Russians compete in neutral status.
