A court has banned the former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, from approaching Spanish national team player Jennifer Hermoso. Europa Press reports this.

On September 15, the first hearing in the Rubiales case took place. The functionary was prohibited from communicating with the athlete and from approaching her less than 200 meters. At the same time, the prosecutor’s office’s request to oblige the ex-head of RFEF to appear in court once every two weeks and to confiscate his assets was rejected.

On September 8, Spanish prosecutors filed a lawsuit against Rubiales. The former head of the RFEF, who kissed team captain Jennifer Hermoso at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, has been charged with sexual assault and coercion.

At the awards ceremony, Rubiales put a medal on Hermoso and kissed the soccer player on the lips. This drew criticism from the media and Spanish politicians. After the scandal, Rubiales apologized and said that he did it without malicious intent.
