Footballer Akinfeev preferred a walk with his children to watching the Russian national team match
The goalkeeper and captain of CSKA Moscow Igor Akinfeev explained why he did not watch the entire friendly match with the participation of the Russian national team. His words are quoted by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The athlete said that he preferred walking with his children to football. “I honestly admit: I watched the first 15-20 minutes. Then we went to the site. “I think it’s absolutely normal at this stage for me to choose to take a walk with my 2.5-year-old instead of watching the Qatar-Russia match,” he said.
In September 2023, the Russian national team held three international meetings. On September 12, the team drew 1:1 with Qatar. Karpin’s team also played two matches with the Egyptian Olympic team in Suez: the first ended in a draw with a score of 1:1, the second in a 2:1 victory for the hosts.
Akinfeev is a bronze medalist at the 2008 European Championship as part of the Russian national team. Together with CSKA, he won the Russian Championship six times, the national Cup and Super Cup seven times. In addition, as part of the army team, Akinfeev won the UEFA Cup.
