FIFA did not include Ronaldo among the nominees for the title of best player in 2023
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced the names of the nominees for the title of best player of 2023. This was reported on the official website of the organization.
The nominees for the award included 12 football players: Manchester City players Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Rodri and Bernardo Silva, Napoli representatives Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Inter Miami forward ยป Lionel Messi, PSG striker Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, as well as Marcelo Brozovic from Al-Nasr, who joined the team from Inter in the summer. Brozovic’s teammate, Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, was not included in the list of nominees.
In addition, FIFA announced the names of candidates for the title of best coach of the year. The top 5 included Pep Guardiola, who coaches Manchester City, Barcelona coach Xavi, Simone Inzaghi from Inter, Luciano Spalletti, who led Napoli and went to the Italian national team, as well as Angelos Postecoglou from Tottenham Hotspur.
In 2022, Messi received The Best FIFA Football Awards. Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni was named the best coach.
