ROC will pay compensation to members of the Olympic team if they miss tournaments

Russian athletes will receive compensation if they miss major international tournaments. This was announced by the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Athletes who took part in the Olympics and are still pursuing their careers will receive one-time payments. This year and early next year we will make payments for summer sports in the amount of 500, 350 and 250 thousand rubles for sports results shown at the Olympic Games,” he said.

According to Pozdnyakov, other members of the Olympic team will receive 150 thousand rubles.

On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions.

The next Olympic Games will be held in the summer of 2024 in Paris. However, the final decision on the participation of Russians in the tournament has not been made at the moment.
