Irina Rodnina called the conditions for the participation of Russians in the Olympic Games humiliating
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina assessed the possibility of Russians participating in the Olympic Games. She is quoted by Sport24.
Rodnina called the conditions for Russian participation in the 2024 Games humiliating and monstrous. “At the moment, the decision to go individually seems pointless to me,” she said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian athletes must independently decide to participate in the Olympics in 2024. “Of course, we must first of all be guided by the interests of athletes in this situation,” said the head of state.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions. However, the final decision on the participation of Russians in the Games in Paris has not been made.
