Boston Bruins included Sergei Samsonov in the list of 100 legendary players of the club
The Boston Bruins included Russian forward Sergei Samsonov in the list of 100 legendary players in the history of the club. This was reported on the team’s official website.
The list was compiled with the participation of historians, members of the hockey community, independent journalists and media representatives. Later, from the “historic hundred” the commission will select 12 forwards, six defenders and two goalkeepers who form the “Boston” of all time.
On July 24, Samsonov, 44, left the Carolina Hurricanes after eight years as a coach. “I won’t be in Carolina next season. In the near future I will decide what I will do,” said the specialist.
Samsonov was selected by Boston in the first round of the 1997 National Hockey League (NHL) draft. He played for the team until 2006, and in 1998 he received the Calder Trophy for the best rookie of the season. The forward is also known for his performances for the Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Carolina, CSKA and Dynamo. In addition, the hockey player is a bronze medalist at the 2002 Olympic Games as part of the Russian national team.
