World Athletics will return money to Russians who did not receive neutral status
World Athletics will return money to Russian athletes whose applications for neutral status were rejected. This was reported on the website of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).
The organization will reimburse application costs. 57 people will receive compensation. Among them are Ekaterina Koneva, Maxim Afonin, Sergei Shubenkov, Sergei Shirobokov, Danil Tsyplakov, Mikhail Akimenko and others. It is noted that the refund was provided for in the agreement between ARAF World Athletics.
On March 23, World Athletics announced the restoration of ARAF membership. At the same time, the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization was extended. It was noted that the association will subsequently formulate the conditions under which athletes will be able to return to tournaments.
In 2015, ARAF membership in World Athletics was suspended due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules by Russians. Domestic athletes could compete in international competitions only after receiving individual permits and in a neutral status.
