In the 17th stage We reach the halfway point of the last week and the countdown begins for the end of the week. Back to Spain. It is a special day, in which it is the turn of one of the most legendary climbs of the test: the Alto del Angliru.
A climb of 12.4 km with an average gradient of 9.8%, with ramps above 20%, makes it one of the toughest passes in the world, in a special category. With the first five relatively easy kilometers, the hardness begins once we reach the Viapará area. From here, sections and curves with slopes greater than 10% begin to follow one another until reaching a turn that leads to the terrible Cueña Les Cabres with its painful slope.
Before, the runners will have to test their strength with two other first-class ports: Colladiella (7.5 km and 7.1% inclination) and Tailpiece (5.4 km and 9.2%). The great climbers have, without a doubt, the opportunity to be crowned winners of one of the most important stages of the Vuelta.
