Footballer Kovalenko called the Russian team’s exclusion from tournaments offensive
Footballer of the Russian national team and St. Petersburg Zenit Alexander Kovalenko appreciated the suspension from international tournaments. His words are quoted by “Championship”.
Kovalenko called the absence of the national team in the qualifying and final tournaments offensive. “I hope that the ban will be lifted as soon as possible. But matches like the one against Egypt are necessary. So that they don’t forget about the national team,” he shared.
In September, the Russian national team will play three friendly matches. On September 7, the team tied with the Egyptian Olympic team with a score of 1:1. The rivals will hold their second meeting on September 11. A day later, the Russians will play against Qatar.
The Russian national team has not competed in international tournaments since February 2022 due to sanctions from the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
