Weightlifter Kashirina said she will not challenge the deprivation of titles
Russian weightlifter Tatyana Kashirina commented on the deprivation of three world champion titles and three victories at the European Championships. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
“You were punished unreasonably and try to prove that you are not a camel. You’ve been living this for 22 years, and then this happens. We won the courts, there was an evidentiary form,” she said. Kashirina added that she had spent enough money on the courts and would not challenge the decision due to the need for new financial investments.
On September 9, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued a decision in the Kashirina case. The Russian woman was stripped of the titles she won between 2013 and 2017. It is noted that the 32-year-old athlete also lost the world records in the snatch, clean and jerk and total, set in 2014.
On August 31, CAS overturned the acquittal of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) in the case of Kashirina’s anti-doping rule violation. She was disqualified for eight years. The suspension began to count from August 28. With credit for the time served during the temporary suspension, the athlete will be able to return to competition after January 9, 2030.
