Former Russian national team player Yuri Zhirkov spoke about the difficulties in training to become a coach. His words are quoted by TASS.
“Everything related to the computer, game patterns, exercises. For me, a person who does not understand computers, it is very difficult,” he shared. Zhirkov noted that after graduation he will receive licenses A and B of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and will be able to work as a head coach or his assistant, depending on the league in which the club plays.
Zhirkov announced his retirement in February 2023. His last club was Khimki. The footballer played for the Moscow region team from January to July 2022. Previously, he played for Zenit, with which he became the Russian champion three times. In addition, Zhirkov was a member of CSKA, Chelsea, Anzhi and the capital’s Dynamo.
As a member of the Russian national team, Zhirkov won bronze at the European Championship in 2008. In total, the defender has 105 matches for the national team and scored two goals.
