American journalist Bozeman proposed exchanging Fedotov for 18-year-old Michkov

American journalist Chuck Bozeman commented on the situation with Russian hockey players Ivan Fedotov and Matvey Michkov. His words are quoted on the Philly Hockey Now website.

Bozeman noted that 18-year-old Michkov at the start of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) season took part in only one of SKA’s four matches. “Suggestion: Is he being punished for saying he wanted to play in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers after being drafted in June?” – he shared.

At the same time, a journalist from the United States expressed concern that Michkov could suffer due to the conflict between Philadelphia, the NHL, the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) and goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov, CSKA, the KHL and the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF). As a solution to the issue, Bozman proposed exchanging Michkov for Fedotov.

“Two promising Flyers players are in Russia. One doesn’t play, although he probably should. Another plays, although in accordance with the sanctions he should not. Is it really impossible to come up with something? Can’t we get two hockey players who want to go out on the ice and play hockey to just play hockey?” Bozeman concluded.

On August 14, the IIHF suspended Fedotov for four months, but the KHL still allowed him to participate in league matches. CSKA was banned from conducting international transfers for a year. The IIHF refused to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s existing agreement with Philadelphia, which was automatically extended for a year due to the player’s military service.
