Olkhovaya said that in Russia they will create their own competitions in case of exclusion from the IPC
General Director of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities Tatyana Olkhovaya commented on the possible complete exclusion of Russia from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Now we do not feel this blow, we have reorganized here. We will create our competitions, raise their level, there is no need to lose heart, ”said Olkhovaya.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), Pavel Rozhkov, said that the IPC wants to permanently suspend Russia’s membership. He added that the organization intends to avoid a repetition of last year’s situation, in which the RPC, through the IPC tribunal, was able to achieve restoration of rights after the suspension of membership in the fall of 2022.
Earlier, the IPC refused to allow Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Olympics. Initially, domestic athletes were allowed to perform in a neutral status, but then the decision was changed.
