FTC RFU fined Zenit defender Fernandez for running during a match with CSKA

The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (FTC RFU) fined Zenit defender Mario Fernandez for running during a match with CSKA. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“The FTC did not consider the actions of Mario Fernandez as actions of a provocative nature. In the report of the delegate, it was only noted that Fernandez left the technical zone, ”said Artur Grigoryants, head of the FTC.

On September 3, CSKA played a draw in their arena with Zenit. The meeting ended with the score 1:1. In the 82nd minute of the meeting, Fernandez was substituted, but six minutes later he ran to another corner of the field to congratulate defender Douglas Santos, who equalized the score.

Fernandez played for CSKA Moscow from 2012 to 2022, after which he took a break from his career. From January 2023, the defender played on loan for the Brazilian Internacional, but on April 21 he left the club ahead of schedule for personal reasons. After that, CSKA negotiated the return of the defender, but he moved to Zenit. The agreement is designed for one year with the possibility of extension for a season.
