Barcelona seeks qualification against Bayern Munich in the Champions League

The last classified for the round of 16 of the Champions League will be defined this Wednesday. For group E, Barcelona-ESP travels to face Bayern Munich-ALE, at 17:00 (GMT), at Allianz Arena.

Barcelona need the victory to advance without depending on other results. The good news for the Spaniards is that Bayern Munich are already classified as group leader and can spare their main players.

But coach Julen Nagelsmann said that the hosts are going to the field in search of the three points.

”Barça still has world-class players. They are under pressure and they have to win. They will give everything for that. It is not about eliminating them, but about the three points for us. I still see them as title contenders,” he said.

On the other hand, only victory matters to Barcelona. That’s why coach Xavi talked about ‘making history’ in Munich.

”Bayern are one of the best teams in the world. The difficulty is extreme, but we know that we are up to us and that if we win we will qualify. We’ll give it our all, but we know it’s cost us a lot against them lately. The story is there to break it. We are excited and looking forward to the start of the game,” he said.

If Barcelona doesn’t beat Bayern, who can qualify is Benfica-POR. The Eagles have to beat Dynamo Kiev-UCR, in Lisbon. The early elimination in Champions could lead to the dismissal of coach Jorge Jesus.

GRUPO G

Also on Wednesday, the G group will be defined. All four teams have a chance to qualify.

The leader Lille-FRA visits the lantern Wolfsburg-ALE, in Germany. Salzburg-AUT and Sevilla-ESP duel in Austria.
