Italian figure skater who left Tutberidze spoke about missed doping tests

Grassl, who left Tutberidze, said he did not know about the missed doping tests

Vice-European champion in figure skating, Italian Daniel Grassl, who trained in the group of Russian specialist Eteri Tutberidze, commented on the information about missed doping tests. His words are quoted by Agi.it.

“I am not aware of this news, it was difficult for me to live alone in Moscow. I have no knowledge of an anti-doping rule violation. This news is not true, ”the athlete said, adding that the information about the disqualification is also a mistake.

Grassl announced the termination of cooperation with Tutberidze on September 5. A day later, RIA Novosti announced that the athlete left the group after an anti-doping rule violation. The skater told the anti-doping authorities that he was in Italy, although he was training in Moscow at that time, and missed three tests. For this violation, he faces a disqualification for a period of one to two years.

Grassl is the silver medalist of the 2022 European Championship. In the 2022/2023 season, he won the British Grand Prix, took sixth place in the continental championship and 12th in the world championship.
