Mike Tyson names Jon Jones the greatest MMA fighter of all time
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has named what he considers to be the greatest mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in history. The ex-champion’s words are quoted by the Complex YouTube channel.
“I like a lot of people… Jon Jones, Khabib, there are a lot of new guys on the way… But I have to choose Jon Jones because of all the difficulties that he went through, but managed to remain a champion,” Tyson said.
36-year-old Jones currently leads the heavyweight ranking of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), along with Russian Sergey Pavlovich and Frenchman Cyril Gan. In his professional career, he won 27 victories and suffered one defeat. Another fight with his participation was declared invalid.
Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his UFC lightweight title three times before retiring. In total, the athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights. After that, he took up coaching, and in 2022 he was recognized as the best trainer of the year according to MMA Junkie.
