The WFTU stated that they do not see any improvement in the admission of Russian swimmers to tournaments
The All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU) commented on the admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments. The statement is given on the official website of the organization.
“Now we can say that there is no improvement in this situation. The information received from the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) will be discussed at the next meeting of the WFTU Presidium,” the organization said. It is noted that WFTU President Vladimir Salnikov will make an official statement after he studies the issue of admitting the national team.
On September 4, it became known that the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be allowed to participate in those events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one athlete. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
In April 2022, World Aquatics banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. Domestic athletes missed the World Aquatics Championship, which was held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3.
