World Aquatics said that Russian swimmers will return to tournaments in February
The International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) has announced the timing of the return of Russian swimmers to tournaments. It is reported by TASS.
“By the time all necessary checks are completed, we will likely be considering the Doha World Championships in February as the first competition for individual neutral athletes,” World Aquatics said.
On September 4, it became known that the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be allowed to participate in those events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one athlete. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
In April 2022, World Aquatics banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. Domestic athletes missed the World Aquatics Championship, which was held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3.
