CSKA left Fedotov, who conceded five goals in the first game of the KHL season, in reserve
The coaching staff of Moscow CSKA left goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov in reserve, who conceded five goals in the first match of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) season. The team’s application for the game with Admiral has been published on the army team’s Telegram channel.
The place at the gates of CSKA from the first minutes will be taken by Alexander Sharychenkov. The meeting will take place on September 3 in Moscow and will begin at 17:00 local time.
On September 1, Fedotov took to the ice in the team’s first match in the KHL regular season against Ak Bars Kazan. The meeting ended with a score of 5:2 in favor of Kazan, Fedotov missed all five goals. After that, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) fined the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) and the player himself, threatening additional sanctions if he continues to appear on the ice.
On August 14, the IIHF suspended Fedotov for four months, and CSKA banned international transfers for a year. The IIHF refused the army team to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s current agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was supposed to go there a year earlier, but was detained on suspicion of evading military service, after which he was sent to serve in the Russian Navy.
