Plushenko lost the dispute and paid the figure skater Kondratyuk 10 thousand dollars
Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko lost a bet to Russian figure skater Mark Kondratyuk and paid him $10,000. He posted the corresponding video on his Instagram. (a social network banned in Russia; owned by Meta, a recognized extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).
“Paid off the birthday boy! Markus, happy birthday! Health and only victories! We always keep our words. We have a new dispute ahead of us, you have to get ready,” Plushenko wrote. In the video, he gives Kondratyuk a pack of dollar bills.
The dispute won by Kondratyuk was reported on August 15. During the show in Beijing, Plushenko offered the athlete money for 10 triple axels in a row. Under the terms of the bet, the jumps had to be performed cleanly, and the pause between them had to be no more than 15 seconds.
Kondratyuk is the champion of Russia and Europe. At the Beijing Olympics, the skater in the Russian team won gold in the team tournament, but did not receive an award due to the doping scandal surrounding Kamila Valieva. In the men’s singles competition, the skater took 15th place.
