Nurmagomedov called the fight between Makhachev and Volkanovski the hardest for him as a spectator
Former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov called the fight between Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Islam Makhachev and Australian Alexander Volkanovski the hardest for him as a spectator. His words are quoted by Gorilla Fighting.
“It’s emotionally difficult for me. Cause it’s a tough fight away from home. I wasn’t around, of course. For the first time in my life. I was very worried, ”Nurmagomedov said.
On February 12, Makhachev turned out to be stronger than Volkanovski and defended his UFC lightweight title for the first time. Nurmagomedov was not present at this meeting. In total, the 31-year-old Makhachev has 24 wins with one defeat.
Nurmagomedov defended the UFC lightweight title three times, after which he retired. In total, the athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights. After that, he took up coaching, and in 2022 he was recognized as the best trainer of the year according to MMA Junkie.
